Posted Monday April 12th, 2021 in the News category

Looking forward to Euro2020?

With Euro2020 getting closer, along with Mentrau Iaith Cymru, Football Association of Wales  are looking for new Welsh or bilingual chants for the Red Wall to support Cymru, from home and from the stands.

Anyone can take part in the Gwlad y Chants competition with three specific categories: primary school age, secondary school age and adults. It’s possible to create a chant either as an individual, a group, a school or a club. A panel of judges will get the task of choosing the top 3 chant from each category and these will then go on to compete in the final round which will be judged by a public vote on social media.

Special Prize

The winners of each category will receive a special shirt signed by the Euro2020 squad and the composer of the most popular ‘chant’ will get the opportunity to visit a squad training session.

To compete, send a recording of your chant to anna@menterfflintwrecsam.cymru by Wednesday, 5th May. If you would like help with Welsh football words and phrases, follow this link. FAW will announce the winners on 3rd June, in time for us all to support Wales at Euro2020.
