Celebrate Welsh On Tour Month

Posted Thursday April 25th, 2019 in the News category

Once again this year, throughout May, Flintshire and Wrexham counties will be celebrating “Welsh On Tour”. The “Welsh on Tour” campaign is a month of Welsh language activities of all sorts and this year’s will be the thirteenth campaign to be held.

The calendar is heaving with events, from gigs, event for parents and their children, Quiz night, dramas and much more. There’s something for everyone!

Promote the Welsh Language

Rhian Davies, Communications Officer at Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam said:

“The main purpose of the campaign is to promote the Welsh language across the counties of Flintshire and Wrexham in schools, communities, and in the workplace with Welsh speakers, learners and non-Welsh speakers. The tour is an opportunity for the county’s language partnership to work together to raise awareness of the Welsh language and culture.”

She added:

“Our aim is to bring attention to all the things that happen locally through the medium of Welsh already, launch new things and organise a few extra special events to celebrate the lively Welsh culture and language in North East Wales. A lot of people have the misconception that this is a very English area, but as you can see from the Welsh on Tour 2019 calendar, there is plenty of opportunity to be out every evening of the week, if desired, socialising through the medium of Welsh.”
