These profiles have been compiled by Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam, as an update to the Language Profile first published in 2015 following intensive research and consultation by Cwmni Sbectrwm and updated in 2018 by Menter Iaith staff. It is now 10 years since the last census so the publication of a new profile, based on this year’s census (March 2021), will be possible in the near future. In the meantime, it is important to note that this is a live document and will be updated regularly as new statistics become available. The profiles aim to provide a current and comprehensive picture of the situation of the Welsh language in Flintshire and Wrexham. They will also enable us to plan effectively and consider measures to mitigate the effects of Covid-19 on our communities and the Welsh language. They will be key to recognising the changes and analysing their effects on the resilience of the Welsh language and its users. The profiles will provide a basis for preparing and developing future schemes of work and strategies and will outline what interventions are needed to ensure that the Welsh language prospers.
