{"id":15684,"date":"2025-09-12T10:53:27","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T10:53:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/menterfflintwrecsam.cymru\/diwrnod-shwmae-sumae-2025\/"},"modified":"2025-09-12T12:17:21","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T12:17:21","slug":"diwrnod-shwmae-sumae-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/menterfflintwrecsam.cymru\/en\/diwrnod-shwmae-sumae-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Diwrnod Shwmae Su&#8217;mae 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><p>Having <span style=\"font-weight: normal !msorm;\"><strong>fun<\/strong><\/span> while speaking Welsh is the theme of this year\u2019s <strong>Shwmae Su&#8217;mae <\/strong>campaign led by Mentrau Iaith Cymru.\u00a0 The event, which takes place annually on <span style=\"font-weight: normal !msorm;\"><strong>15 October<\/strong><\/span>, is a national celebration of the Welsh language, wherever you live and whatever your level<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p>This year\u2019s campaign will encourage people to share a video clip of themselves enjoying a fun activity in Welsh.  This will coincide with Visit Wales\u2019s marketing campaign, \u2018Hwyl\u2019 (fun in Welsh). <\/p>\n\n<p>Myfanwy Jones, Director of Mentrau Iaith Cymru, says, \u201cWhile the Visit Wales campaign focuses on the amazing experiences our country offers, the Shwmae Su\u2019mae celebrations will emphasise the wide range of fun-filled activities you can enjoy in the Welsh language. Our aim is to celebrate the diversity of pastimes which bring us pleasure as Welsh speakers and to celebrate the fabulous work being done by clubs, organisations and schools throughout Wales to enable people to use their Welsh while doing the things they love.\u201d <\/p>\n\n<p>Summing up the 2025 campaign, Myfanwy Jones says, \u201cDo you enjoy paragliding, wild swimming or paddle boarding in Welsh? Do you belong to a choir, a walking club or a drama group?  Why not create a short video of you and your friends having fun in Welsh and share it on social media?  We\u2019re looking forward to seeing the variety of activities people enjoy in Welsh!\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p><p>There are plenty ideas for celebrating the day on the campaign\u2019s website: shwmae.cymru, with branded stickers, selfie frames and \u2018Shwmae Su\u2019mae\u2019 speech bubbles available to download for use in events.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p><p>When sharing a video on social media, please use the hashtags #Hwyl and #shwmaesumae25 and tag @ShwmaeSumae on Facebook or @diwrnodshwmaesumae on Instagram and TikTok. You can also tag your local Menter Iaith &#8211; @menteriaithffaw on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p><p>The first <strong>Shwmae Su\u2019mae Day<\/strong> was held on 15 October, 2013 to promote the idea of starting every conversation in Welsh.\u00a0 The aim of the day is to show that Welsh belongs to everyone \u2013 fluent speakers, learners and those who feel their linguistic skills are a little rusty. The day is celebrated annually on <strong>15 October<\/strong>.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p>Mentrau Iaith Cymru are co-ordinating the Shwmae Su\u2019mae campaign.
