The Initiative is proud to introduce our Project Officer ‘Y Sîn ar y Ffin’, Poppy Wright. Poppy is a native of Wrexham and is very passionate about the Welsh language and extremely proud to be able to help provide opportunities through the medium of Welsh in the community. Poppy loves all kinds of music and is really looking forward to helping promote the Welsh music scene in the counties of Flint and Wrexham.

Thanks to funding from the Arts Council, the initiative will work towards running a series of Welsh music clubs/sessions in the two Welsh-medium secondary schools in the Flint and Wrexham counties, to introduce contemporary Welsh music to the students, to learn about and discuss new artists and bands, and to learn new skills.

We will work towards establishing groups of older students who will lead the project, plan and volunteer in the music club, run and promote lunchtime gigs, workshops, and community gigs, and sustain the project in the long term.

We are eager to nurture an interest in the Welsh music scene in general, by ensuring that young people are introduced to the wealth of Welsh music being created today and see more live music in their local areas. And who knows, perhaps we will inspire the next artist or band to reach the biggest stages in Wales.
