As part of the Menter’s new project ‘Y Sîn ar y Ffin’, it has been and continues to be a pleasure to work with pupils from Ysgol Maes Garmon in Mold and Ysgol Morgan Llwyd in Wrexham. It’s great to hear the steering groups’ ideas and opinions about gigs and various activities to encourage their peers to listen to Welsh language music. They have also been leading with ideas for the music clubs in the schools and it is great to see so many coming to enjoy in Clwb Miwsig Maes Garmon and Clwb Miwsig Morgan Llwyd every fortnight!
RECENT WELSH LANGUAGE MUSIC DAY CELEBRATIONS
As part of this year’s Welsh Language Music Day celebrations, it was a huge pleasure to welcome the iconic band from Llanuwchllyn – Candelas – to YsgolMorgan Llwyd for a wonderful acoustic gig during lunchtime. It was special to see around 200 enthusiastic pupils come to enjoy a set that included some new songs, and some of the classics too, of course! In addition to this, it was a privilege to welcome the giants of the Welsh language music scene back to Tŷ Pawb on Friday night to continue the Welsh Language Music Day celebrations with a family gig so that the whole community could enjoy the event. What a brilliant atmosphere and a great evening! It was lovely to be able to welcome one of the project’s steering group to the stage to introduce the band to the eager and excited crowd of around 150, who were keen to be enchanted by the highly popular and well-known band.
COMING UP
A busy and exciting period is ahead for the Menter and the ‘Y Sîn ar y Ffin’ groups! We are very much looking forward to welcoming the renowned Welsh band, Bwncath, to Ysgol Maes Garmon soon for a lunchtime acoustic gig. In addition to this, all the staff are very busy preparing and planning for the return of the GwyddGig community festival to Mold again this year. There is no doubt there will be a feast of workshops and activities, not forgetting performances from some of the stars of the Welsh music scene and some of the stars of the future as well.
