The new year is always an exciting time and, according to tradition, a time to socialise and make resolutions for the year ahead. Well, our resolution here at Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam is to ensure there are plenty of opportunities for Flintshire families to socialise in Welsh over the next few months, and, thanks to a Gwynt y Môr grant our wish will be made possible.

Every Saturday for 6 weeks various activities will be held at Ffynongroyw Centre, starting 6th January in the company of Menter Iaith’s closest friends; Magi Ann and Tedi. The first session will be suitable for children under 7 and their families, with an opportunity to colour, look for your favourite friends from the books in our treasure hunt, take part in our “Symud gyda Tedi” keep fit session and listen to stories with Magi Ann.

Also in January the actor, tv presenter and clog dancer Tudur Phillips will join us to host a fun games session for the whole family, the magician Professor Llusern will present a magic show where he will also teach us how to create shapes with balloons and, finally, the chance to make plenty of noise in the company of Colin Daimond and his colourful drums.

In February we will be learning about the history of one of the most famous buildings in the area at a special Lego workshop with a member of staff from Menter Iaith Sir Ddinbych before concluding the series of sessions with a family folk-dance led by the multitalented dancer Angharad Harrop.

All the events are FREE and are suitable for primary school age children and their families. Every child will need to be supervised by a responsible adult. Welsh will be the main language at the events, but the events are suitable for both fluent speakers and children learning Welsh at school. There will be a warm welcome to all!
